Description

PS Audio Signature BHK250 Stereo Amplifier is now available

PS Audio’s BHK250 is a fully balanced (input to output) stereo amplifier that mates a triode front end with all-MOSFET circuitry that promises 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms.

The name ‘BHK’ comes from Bascom H King, the lead designer of PS Audio’s newest amplifier. He may need little introduction here in the audiophile world; his amplifiers are second to none (Constellation Audio, Conrad Johnson, Infinity). When Paul McGown, owner of PS Audio, hired Bascom King with the intention to create “one of the top five amplifiers in the world” King said it would cost at least $50,000 US RRP. Paul McGown told him to he wanted to sell it for under $10,000 US.

King’s other amplifiers cost $55,000 and $150,000 a pair… You can tell why we are so excited…

Welcome to the PS Audio Signature BHK250.

Featuring two user replaceable Russian Genalex Gold Lion 6922 gold pin tubes it is the first PS Audio product to feature vacuum tubes. McGown says on his website “The tubes won. Yes, they just obliterated the MOSFETS, contrary to my initial findings.”.

Tube and MOSFET stages are completely isolated, with tubes turned off in standby, and everything else allowed to idle at 80–100W. 15 minutes warm-up is ideal for the class-A/B output stage, which runs in class-A for the first 20W.
